What to Expect at Your First Visit

Our goal for any first encounter is to develop trust and establish open communication lines. We look forward to long term relationships where we have helped discover what you need, want and, sometimes, a barrier to your treatment. The doctors and staff at Progressive Dental, PLLC would like your first visit with us to be as comfortable and stress-free as possible. That is why we make sure from the moment you contact our office, you are in touch with a caring, compassionate person who is trained to help you receive what you are looking for.

When you arrive in the office you will be greeted by our friendly receptionist. She will help you “check in” by assisting you in any way you might need. At this time, you will complete some paperwork, which includes a Health History form, HIPPA form and a Voluntary Authorization to Release Information form.

To save time filling out all the forms at the office, the forms are now available to print out from our web site. We will also ask you some questions to help complete your registration with the office.  We ask that you provide a valid Drivers License or ID card; a second form of ID. If you have dental benefits (insurance) please bring a signed insurance claim form and your insurance card(s). Upon completion, all this information will be transferred into electronic data and stored on our computer system. This usually takes approximately six minutes.

Your first visit to Progressive Dental, PLLC will most likely be an appointment with one of our registered dental hygienists; unless you are in pain and need to see the doctor first. You will be escorted from our comfortable reception area into one of our treatment rooms. While in the treatment room you can relax while watching television or listening to music with headphones available for you to use.

At Progressive Dental, PLLC, we offer child care for your child/children (under the age of 13) to make it more convenient for you while you are at your dental appointment. We have a dedicated child care room with toys and other activities to keep the little ones busy at all three locations. There is no additional fee for this service; we just ask that you call ahead so that we will be sure to have one of our employees available during your appointment. This service is available between the hours of 7am and 5 pm.

Our treatment rooms are also equipped with computers where your caregiver can enter any changes or add any new information regarding you or your dental history. The first non-emergency visit will consist of a complete head, neck and mouth examination, including all necessary X-rays, and a complete charting of all existing dental work. A custom treatment plan will be developed between you and your doctor. Your custom treatment plan will define the treatment options you have discussed with your doctor, their cost and a likely treatment path to follow to achieve optimum health.

Children often have their teeth cleaned at this first appointment along with a fluoride treatment. Many times, one our certified dental assistants will help or assist with X-rays or blood pressure readings.

When you are finished with your appointment your caregiver will walk with you to the business area where you will “check out” with one of our office administrators. She can answer any questions you may have regarding your treatment plan, financial arrangements, and assist you in setting up any appointments you may need. Most likely you will be appointed for routine preventive dental care, which is the cornerstone to a healthy mouth and is often at six-month intervals. She can also help you by submitting any insurance pre-estimates that are often required for certain types of dental work. This also helps you prepare financially for future appointments. If you do not have dental insurance, she will assist you with credit card payments, alternative financing, or credit applications.

If it is your very first appointment with our office, we ask that full payment be made at the time of service. If you have insurance we will bill your insurance as a courtesy and if we receive payment from the insurance company, you will have a credit on your account, which can be applied to future dental work or be refunded to you. Once an insurance transaction has occurred, and your dental benefit provider pays our office directly, then only your co-payment is expected at future appointments. We have financing options through American Dream which can provide interest free payment options for up to one year with approval.

Our office and reputation is built on happy patients, who refer their friends and family to us. We have been in business since 1991 and we strive to earn your trust every day. We hope your first visit with Progressive Dental, PLLC is one that will have you smiling and returning back for your future dental health needs.
